When considering psychological therapy it is essential to know the background and credentials of your therapist. My name is Jess and I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) which is a regulatory body for health practitioners in Australia.
I have spent the past decade studying, researching and working in the area of Psychology. I trained as a Clinical Psychologist via the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) program and completed my PhD, both at the Maudsley Hospital, King's College London. I hold an undergraduate Psychology degree (BSc Psych) with Honours from The University of Western Australia.
I previously worked in the National Health Service (NHS) as well as the private sector in London, UK. Since relocating home to Australia, I remain committed to working in both public and private healthcare in Perth, WA.
I am passionate about helping children, adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds who are experiencing mental health related difficulties. I am able to adapt therapy for individual needs and work with the families/wider support networks of individuals. Finally, I strive to be an active scientist-practitioner, meaning that I keep up-to-date with the latest psychological research and use this to inform my clinical practice. Equally, my clinical practice informs the ideas and direction of my academic research.

INITIAL CONSULTATION
This is a free 10-15 minute telephone consultation to briefly discuss the reasons for seeking therapy and to see if we can work together.
PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
The purpose of the assessment is to start to understand an individuals difficulties. It involves detailed history taking about current and previous difficulties, family and social circumstances, as well as the completion of a few questionnaires. If starting therapy together is agreed to be appropriate, a collaborative plan is developed including identifying specific treatment goals. The assessment spans across the first few 50 minute appointments.
PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY
The most appropriate evidence informed individualised treatment will be provided. Specific goals and overall progress will be reviewed regularly. Therapy sessions are weekly, they each last 50 minutes and the number of sessions will be agreed at the assessment, this is typically between 6-20 sessions.
FEES
A typical 50 minute psychological therapy session is $270.
This is below the Australian Psychological Society recommended fee of $300.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or Eating Disorder Care Plan (EDP) you are eligible for a Medicare rebate of $141.85. Which means the gap you pay is $128.15 per session
